See the Vogue 100 exhibition and enjoy a bargain lunch at Le Caprice

It only opened a week or so ago, but the Vogue exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery - Vogue 100: a century of style - is already drawing huge crowds. The good news is there's an altogether more pleasant way to enjoy the show than joining the scrum for tickets each day.

Le Caprice in St James is running an absolutely fabulous (reference intended) offer alongside the exhibition. For £38 per person you get two courses from a special three course menu, a ticket to the show, glass of Veuve Cliquot champagne AND a limited edition print from the show. In fact, when you work out that tickets are almost £20 anyway and the print costs £8 in the gallery shop, that's a tenner for two lovely courses and a glass of champagne, which is a pretty insanely good bargain.

We popped down on Friday to try the lunch, which was actually our first time eating at the restaurant which is clubby and comfortable. Our two course lunch kicked off with a dandelion and ham hock salad with puy lentils and a lovely bowl of moules mariniere with wild garlic. The restaurant's salmon fishcakes with sorrel sauce have been on their regular menu for three decades and make an appearance here while a smallish portion of wild mushroom risotto was just the ticket to ward off winter chills.

The Vogue lunch is at Le Caprice, 20 Arlington St, London SW1A 1RJ from Thursday 11 February until Friday 6 May, 2016. To book call them on 020 7629 2239 and quote 'En Vogue'. Tickets to the exhibition are valid for weekdays only. Restaurant reservations available from 2pm – 6pm Monday to Friday and from 9.30pm on Thursday and Friday only. You can see a copy of the set menu here.
