Emilia's Crafted Pasta bar prepares to open at St Katharine Dock

23/11/16 - updated with soft launch info

Does London have room for two places serving up freshly rolled pasta? Given the permanent queues outside Padella, one would think so. All of which is good news for newcomer Emilia’s Crafted Pasta which is opening next month at St Katharine's Dock.

The restaurant's founder Andrew Macleod’s says he wants this to be the best pasta restaurant outside of Italy. To that end, every bit of pasta in the place will be made on site, in full view, every morning. The man in charge of all this activity is Genoese chef Simone Stagnitto.

Here's what we know about it so far:

The one dish you're going to HAVE to try are the Parmesan Balls – teeny balls of fried Parmesan

And it won't be a spot for anyone watching their weight - they're going to pimp up with their bolognese with homemade béchamel and go extra heavy on the Parmesan in the house-made pesto.

It'll be pretty cosy - there's going to be room for around 35 diners, which includes the spots outside overlooking the water.

You can sip and watch - every morning they'll open for coffee while the pasta is being prepared for lunch.

The drinks menu is VERY Italian - there's even a special Italian lemonade on, Lurisia Gazzosa, along with craft beer Amarcord Gradisca and a really small wine list of one white, red, rose and Prosecco.

Emilia's Crafted Pasta opens on 24 October 2016 at Unit C3 Ivory House, St Katharine Docks, London, E1W 1AT. There's a soft launch with 50% off food until 27 November (no bookings). Opening times are 11:30am – 10pm (coffees from 10:30am). No bookings. Keep up with their news on Twitter @emiliaspasta
