Newly open in Finsbury park is Oak N4 - an independent wine store & tasting room, tucked in just behind the station in Wells Terrace.

"Providing an informal and relaxed environment is everything," the founder and director Cameron McKeown told Hot Dinners. "Selecting wines at a bar, restaurant or even in a store can be a difficult experience. We are looking to provide the customer with just enough knowledge to make it a joy to buy wine." They've brought in the wine expert from TV's Sunday Brunch, Raul Diaz, to help them with the list - he'll also be popping in for wine-tasting events, the first of which takes place on 11 January 2017 on New Zealand wine.

They've brought in the wine expert from TV's Sunday Brunch, Raul Diaz, to help them with the list - he'll also be popping in for wine-tasting events, the first of which takes place on 11 January 2017 on New Zealand wine. And from February they'll also be running 'wine flights' - short tasting sessions focusing on a specific grape, area, style of wine.

There will be around 150 different wines in stock, of which around 30 can be enjoyed there and then by the glass. "In the end of the day tasting the wine is key.," says Cameron. "It is also the best way to really explain a wine. It has to be swirled, smelled and ... well ... drunk. The tasting experience of a wine also changes character when consumed with food. That is why small plates with either olives, almonds, bread & oil, cheese and cold meat arrives alongside the wine. Larger sharing plates can also be ordered at a charge."

Oak N4 is at 5-7 Wells Terrace, London N4 3JU.  Keep up with their news on Twitter @oak_n4
