Recently opened under the radar in Brixton is Naughty Piglets, a wine bar and charcoal grill. It's a new venture by husband and wife team Margaux Aubry and Joe Sharratt. Sharratt you might know from his previous incarnation as Head Chef at Trinity - his wife Margaux comes here from Terroirs.

The neighbourhood spot has room for 30 covers and features an open plan kitchen with dining spaces up at the counter in front of it. Menus we've seen feature starters like grilled squid with aioli or oxtail and parmesan croquettes for £4, Cornish mussels with wild garlic for £7 and pork belly with sesame and Korean spice for £9. A short dessert selection could feauture chocolate, milk and almonds £5 or panna cotta with Gariguette strawberries for £5.

As for drinks, there's Camden Town Brewery's Hell's Lager on draught and an interesting, wholly European wine list which starts with a Jurançon (£15 for a pot) and climbs up to £120 for a magnum of Château Le Puy ‘Emilien’. It must be good - we've already spotted Jay Rayner praising the place for serving him "a natural wine I liked." The wine in question, if you're wondering, is a 2013 Vin de France Puy Long from Domaine Jean Maupertuis at £23.50 a pot or £34 for a bottle.

Naughty Piglets is at 28 Brixton Water Lane, London SW2 1PE. Call 020 7274 7796 to book. Opening hours for the kitchen are Tuesday 6-10pm, Wed-Thurs 12pm-2.30pm and 6pm-10pm; Fri-Sat 12pm-3pm 6-10 and Sunday 12pm to 4pm. Keep up with their news on Twitter @naughtypiglets
