National Portrait Gallery restaurant reopens with new look menu and bar

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the National Portrait Gallery restaurant is reopening after a month long closure for a bit of a do-over. And it's worth remembering just what a lovely view it has over the rooftops of London.

Changes have been afoot in the kitchen as well with the introduction of new culinary director Helena Puolakka (ex-Aubergine, La Tante Claire, Pierre Gagnaire and Skylon). She's been working with the Portrait Restaurant’s head chef Steve Beadle on a new menu, adding on a selection of small dishes in the new-look bar area and a range of lighter dishes for anyone looking to have a quick lunch.

Sample dishes on the new menu include:

Ashdown Forest venison tartare
Smoked haddock brandade
Sixty degree egg, confit garlic, parsley

The Portrait Restaurant reopens on Thursday 12th February 2015 on Floor 3, National Portrait Gallery, St Martin's Place, London WC2H 0HE
