‘Local is gospel’ in Parlez, Brockley’s new neighbourhood restaurant

‘Local is gospel’ in Parlez, Brockley’s new neighbourhood restaurant

There’s a new neighbourhood restaurant coming to Brockley, and the focus will be firmly on local life, from the digital loyalty cards to the top notch wifi and more.

The restaurant will also double as a bar, with a well-sourced drinks list that’ll be open all week long. It’s good news for Brockley, and should go down well in given the area seldom sees much in the way of new openings.

We’ve been told to expect seasonal fare that’s simple, clean and delicious “without needing deep pockets,” according to co-founder Louis. "We'll be running a full service from brunch through to dinner,” he said.

And on that menu, expect dishes like the following:

  • Slow cooked sardines, butter & toast
  • Parlez chicken,mushroom & spinach pie
  • Open pastrami sourdough sandwich w/pickles & mustard
  • Slow cooked pork belly & saffron potatoes
  • Chorizo,squid & black bean casserole
  • Chocolate & chestnut torte w mascapone

The space will be run by south London duo Louis and Matt (who also runs The White Horse on Brixton Hill), who said: “We want to engage with the neighbourhood and find ways to be inclusive and work together. Brockley has such a strong community spirit, we're keen to do everyone proud.”

Later down the line, Parlez should have curated playlists from youth-led Brixton radio station Reprezent FM, where Louis looks after artist development.

Parlez is set to open July 2017 at 16 Coulgate Street, Brockley, SE4 2RW. Follow Parlez on Twitter @parlezlocal.
