There's going to be a lot of discussion this week over the Sunday Times' publication today (Sunday 31 October) of its Food List - a list of the Top 100 restaurants in the UK, in conjunction with Harden's guides.
Two London restaurants have made the Top 5 - The Ledbury and Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley, while a further 57 London places found their way into the top 100.
The results were voted for by 8000 'real customers (as opposed to what, we wonder?!) in nearly 100,000 detailed, user-generated reviews' according to a press release issued by The Sunday Times.
As with all lists, there are bound to be some odd omissions in the top 100 - for example, no St John (it scrapes in at 101) or Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester - both of which are in the San Pellegrino Top 100 restaurants in the world list. And what about Bistrot Bruno Loubet, which made it to the number 3 slot in Restaurant Magazine's Restaurant of the Year list? Conversely, the inclusion of lesser-known places such as Islington's Morgan M or Portland Place's The Landau might raise an eyebrow or two. We'd love to know what you think should or shouldn't be here.
