Knightsbridge Rib Room re-opens with £19 set menu

Fifty years on from the day it first opened, the Rib Room at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge is getting ready to reopen with one hell of a facelift.

Designer Martin Brudnizki - best known for Scott's and Dean Street Townhouse - has been in charge of giving the legendary dining room a new look. When it reopens in October it will have a new cocktail bar and cigar terrace. It's all good practice for Brudnizki who'll also be doing the design for the Caprice Group's new steakhouse in Grosvenor Square.

There's a new head chef in charge of the restaurant. Ian Rudge arrives from luxury Lancashire hotel, the Northcote, bringing dishes such as buttered lobster tail with caremelised baby fennel, braised gem hearts and pear cider to the table. Best of all, there's a £19 set menu for those wanting to try the restaurant without needing to set up a new line of credit and - our favourite bit - a daily special served from a lunch trolley.

The Rib Room Bar and Restaurant will reopen in October 2011
