Queensway spot Queens: Skate - Dine - Bowl is returning with a new look

Historic skate rink Queens, near Hyde Park, is set to reopen its doors this November sporting a total refurb and a LOT going happening under one roof. At Hot Dinners, we've spent many an evening here in the (fairly distant) past, but the place has always been very much in need of a proper sprucing up. So we'll be interested to see just how the revamp looks when it opens.

First opened in 1930, the newly refurbished venue is set to be a huge drawcard for this part of London boasting 45,000 sq feet of drinking, dining skating & bowling. When finally open Queens’ will comprise of a restaurant two bars, ice rink and12 new bowling lanes.

Obviously, we’re also very interested in the dedicated restaurant and we’re excited to see pop-up maestro Jimmy Garcia opening a quintessentially British diner at the venue.

We managed to grab a look at the proposed menu, which will include:

  • Parliamentary Pulled Pork - Queens’ 18hr slow roast braised BBQ pork shoulder
  • A Build your own burger option
  • Sticky Bangers - honey and mustard glazed Old Spot pork and apple sausages
  • Wing It - the diner’s very own crispy chicken wing recipe with the choice of mild green peppercorn, hot or super-hot sauce

Queens’ will also be feature two bars; the main bar and lounge and a VIP bar which can also be hired out for more intimate gatherings. Both bars will serve a range of signature cocktails, including:Cockney Ladder, an Apple & pear cocktail made with Chase vodka, pear liqueur, pear puree & apple juice and Palace Garden made with Portobello gin, elderflower liqueur, cucumber, mint & apple  -perfect for those in need of a bit of Dutch courage before hitting the rink.

Of course, that’s not all – alongside the huge ice rink ice-skating there are also 12 new state-of-the-art bowling lanes. Accommodating up to 84 people, bowlers will be able to order cocktails, beer and sharing dishes delivered straight-to-booth from Jimmy’s Diner and Queens’ bar. To top the experience off, Queens’ will also bring back a retro arcade featuring the likes of Pac-Man, Asteroids, Air hockey and table football.

Queens: Skate-Dine-Bowl opens on 8 December 2016 at 17 Queensway, London, W2 4PQ. For more, visit their website.
