Hopscotch brings feel good vibes, buns and cocktails to Brick Lane

Hopscotch, a playful new bar and restaurant that’s all about the atmosphere, has landed in Brick Lane. They’re serving up buns, ‘bombs’ and cocktails, in a venue with a 1am license that’s full of cool little touches that make it perfectly suited to its East London location. The man behind it all is Jonathan Cowley, who’s got an impressive list of names under his belt, including Milk & Honey, Chick 'n Sours and Bleeker St. Burger.

While there will be buns, they won’t be burgers, but filled with some intriguing ingredients. Nanny goat with warm spice and hot sauce, Maryland Crab Cake will be among your options or go for the Vintage Carrot with Maple - which truly sounds right up Brick Lane’s street.

There’ll also be ‘bombs’ - bite-sized deep fried balls that come in a variety of flavours. The Smoked Eel with Cucumber Relish is a nice nod to the East End’s culinary history, or try the ‘Pig’s Head Bomb’.

The bombs we hear go rather well with the cocktail menu. And it’s quite a menu - the Hello Kyoto will be made with Japanese whisky and plum wine, while The Carnival will be a more South American affair - cachaça, port, peach, and pleasingly, some champagne. They’ll be deserved in Hopscotch’s drinking den, or if you’re after fresh air, the green Garden space at the entrance.

Hopscotch is open on December 1 2016 at 202 Brick Lane, E1 6SA, and will be open Monday - Wednesday from 6pm-1am, and Thursday - Sunday 12pm - 1am. Follow Hopscotch on Twitter @hopscotchLDN.
