Hawksmoor Spitalfields is getting a big refurb

Hawksmoor Spitalfields is getting a big refurb

If you had plans to break any post-Christmas diet with a trip to Hawksmoor's original restaurant in Spitalfields - you'll have to delay that blowout for just a short while. The restaurant has just announced that it's closing 1 January for a complete refurb (bet THAT'LL be a good place for a New Year's Eve party!).

Expect a brand new look and a new menu when they return. As co-owner Will Becket says:

"Back in 2006 we stumbled upon a failed Turkish kebab joint and thought that it might just make the perfect spot for a restaurant celebrating amazing British beef and finely crafted cocktails. The only problem was that we didn’t have any money. We managed to cobble together enough for the rent deposit, but not much else. So all we could do was repaint the walls (from white to white) and raid eBay for the bare essentials. What we now know as Hawksmoor Spitalfields was born. Over the years we’ve tweaked and added to it, but the time has come to lavish it with love – to make sure that it looks the part for the next eleven years and more. We’re really excited. As the first, it holds a special place in our hearts and we can’t wait to unveil its new look.”

We'll have more info on the revamped Hawksmoor in January.

Where: Hawksmoor Spitalfields, 157A Commercial St, London E1 6BJ
