Summing it all up: Very good news for South London bike lovers - the ever popular Putney cycle caf Dynamo has branched out to Balham, bringing its range of hearty food, cold drinks, coffees and to the cycling community.
The low-down
If you’re one the ever-growing numbers of Londoners that just can’t get enough whizzing about on their bicycle, then you’ll know that when the time finally comes to eat, only the most hearty, carb-laden of food will do the job. Which is something that cycle cafe The Dynamo, with its sourdough pizzas, rosemary fries and shawarma lamb, knows only too well.
Now, the Putney cycle cafe and restaurant is expanding its operation to Balham, where it’ll be opening up another base for those bravely zoom about London's bus lanes et al. In fact, the spot’s been specifically chosen due to its proximity to a popular cycle route, so it should be busy. Plus, there’ll be outdoor seating - perfect if you’re a bit, ahem, less than fresh after your ride and want to cool off with a craft beer or two.
We’ve not had a look at the new menu yet, but if their first restaurant is anything to go by, it’ll be chockablock with filling, no-messing-about grub like blueberry pancakes, porridge and their breakfast bap with bacon, sausage, avocado and sriracha aioli, with optional strong coffee to wash it all down.
Meanwhile, for lunch and dinner, you can refuel with various cheesy, cream-laden pizzas, or if you MUST, a superfood salad. Just don’t rub it in our faces.
