Brick & Liquor mixes cocktails and sharing plates in Clapham

What: Brick & Liquor Clapham

In a nutshell: Creative cocktails and sharing plates (MK 2)

Summing it all up: After getting off to a great start down in Tooting, Brick and Liquor has made the move to Clapham to open their next branch of his cocktail bar. It's larger, with seats for 100, has a decently sized menu for bar snacks, and serves brunch (including a full English with savoury pancakes) on the weekend.

An NYC-inspired cocktail bar in Clapham

If you can’t think of anything better than sipping on a Manhattan, in a cocktail bar, in Manhattan, then here’s something for you. Brick & Liquor, who you may have seen already further south in Tooting, are branching out to bring their cozy, NYC-inspired boozer to Clapham.

Some of the cocktails you’ll be able to get your eager hands on include the Nine & A Half Weeks, featuring Havana 3 rum, orange curacao, vermouth and orange bitters, and a Rosemary Negroni. The bar also seems well suited to anyone with an unabashed sweet tooth (aka us) with dessert-like drinks including the Salted Caramel Espresso Martini, “the end results of many months of trial and error” according to the menu, and the toasted-meringue-topped Eton’s Mess with lemon and raspberry. Oof.

As any seasoned drinker will tell you, cocktails and an empty stomach can lead to some interesting results, so it’s good to hear you’ll be able to temper it with their ‘Social Eats’ bar menu of sharing plates. That'll include Chorizo Arancini, Focaccia with Dips, Chicken Lollipop, Steak Teriyaki Skewers and rather pleasingly for a cocktail bar, Rum & Coke Ribs.

Determined not to miss out on the brunch game, the cocktail bar will also be serving a separate menu on weekends with The Great British Pancake - a full English with pancakes - as well as your traditional breakfast booze of Bloody Marys and Prosecco cocktails.

If all of this sounds good to you but you’re not of South London, then watch this space - the founder is intent on opening several more similar neighbourhood-style bars around non-central London locations over the next year.
