Bill Granger to open first London restaurant - Granger & Co - in Westbourne Grove

Update - 16/11 - Granger & co is now open

Bill Granger has been a regular at foodie events in London over the last year since he uprooted his family from Sydney to make a new life (and business) in London. He's been thwarted several times over a potential location for his first restaurant in London, but now it appears that West London is to be his new location.

In an original interview in the Telegraph, Granger revealed some details about the restaurant: 'I want to do a Bills-style cafe here,' says Granger, 'but I’m going to have a lot more Asian food on the menu than I do in Sydney – because living here I found you couldn’t eat it out as much. It’s also really appropriate for the climate as it’s great when it’s cold and frosty – Mediterranean food doesn’t have quite that comfort factor.’

The restaurant, named Granger & co, has now opened at 175 Westbourne Grove and is open seven days a week, serving breakfast through to dinner. It's a no bookings/walk-in-only affair with a huge amount to choose from the menus. Key things to look for are the Bill's Classics for breakfast & lunch which include ricotta hotcakes with fresh banana & honeycomb butter and sweetcorn fritters with roast tomato, spinach & bacon.

There's a selection of soups and sandwiches on offer for lunch, and a dish of the day for dinner (we particularly like the sound of Tuesday pork shoulder with hoisin & spring onion pancakes).

Had the most gorgeous scrambled Egg at Bills this morning. About 10.30 ish on a blustery weekday. Unsurprisingly given the time, none of the queues others mention above. Fab service, gorgeously light but cozy decor and eggs to completely die for. How do they do them like that?! I'd love to know. Highly recommend. Thank you Bill's

Worst experience in London in a long time. Waited on the sidewalk for about 45 minutes. When we finally sat down, it took another 40 minutes for a minute serving of starters to finally appear, and when after a further 40 minutes the main were nowhere to be seen (until the manager showed up and told us they had been "mislaid"), we just walked out. It escapes me how the kitchen can take that long to manage what actually seems like a very plain and simple menu to handle. Service was generally clueless and aloof; and the place was just generally and utterly disorganised.

They don't take bookings there, you have to get there and wait for a table and its very busy at breakfast time. About 40 mins for a table for 4.

Have just walked past it, it looks absolutely stunning, especially the chandelier upstairs. Hope the food will match the decor.

Hi Saima - as it says at the top of the piece, they're expecting to open on 18 November (hopefully).

Finally! And I thought it will never happen ...a Bill Granger restaurant in London at last. Can't wait to try his famous corn fritters & ricotta pancake.
