Barrafina to open second restaurant at Adelaide Street in Covent Garden

barrafinaUpdate - here's a look at the new restaurant.

We've had it on our Coming Soon page for a while, but today we got the first confirmation that the second Barrafina restaurant would be opening at Adelaide Street in Covent Garden, just as Sam and Eddie Hart took official possession of the site.

They'll be taking over a two floor corner site. On the ground floor there'll be the kind of long marble top bar beloved by fans of their Soho place. There will be 29 stools and an open kitchen.

Downstairs will feature a space that can be booked for private dining and events featuring its own open kitchen and plancha.

As with their other restaurant the Covent Gardne Barrafina will operate a first come, first serve, no reservations policy and guests will be able to order drinks and smaller tapas whilst they wait for a seat.

Nieves Barragán Mohacho, who has worked with the Hart Brothers for over ten years and is currently Executive Head Chef at both Fino and Barrafina will be in charge of the food. And while much on the menu will be familiar to diners at their current restaurant with a menu made up of classic and contemporary tapas, Nieves is planning some entirely new dishes. Those dishes will probably be inspired by the Josper oven that's being installed here.

“After five years of waiting we could not be more excited about heading to Covent Garden,"  said Eddie Hart. "It is a fantastic restaurant space, with fabulous wrap around windows, lots of natural light and high ceilings.”

Jose Etura who's currently GM at the Soho Barrafina will be running the new Covent Garden restaurant.

Barrafina will open on 7 July 2014 at Adelaide Street, London WC2N 4HZ
