Aquavit launches a Nordic afternoon tea in St James

aquavit800a

There's always room for more afternoon teas, in our books, and the latest one from Aquavit in St James has a distinctly Nordic flavour.

Tea, Scandi-style kicks off with open rye sandwiches, natch, featuring Gravlax, Shrimp Skagen, and Venison tartare. That's followed by some cardamom buns filled with almond paste and topped with whipped cream; and Punsch-roll, with crushed cookies and punsch liqueur wrapped in marzipan then dipped in chocolate. Perfect for upcoming Mother's Day would be the Mums Mums - marshmallow dipped in chocolate. And for biscuit lovers, the tea finishes with the Swedish tradition of seven different types of cookies.

There are three different teas on offer, prices depending on what is served to drink with all that food.

  • The Fika Afternoon Tea (£27.50) features teas served in a floral Rörstrand tea set, or Swedish coffees from Johan & Nyström.
  • The Champagne Afternoon Tea (£39) includes a glass of Ruinart Brut Champagne
  • The Aquavit Afternoon Tea (£65) is served in an award-winning tea service from designer Henning Koppeland also includes a glass of Dom Pérignon and freshly baked scones with clotted cream and preserves.

The afternoon tea launches on 27 March 2017 and runs Mon-Fri: 3pm – 5.30pm; Sat: 3.30pm – 5.30pm; Sun: 3.30pm – 6.00pm at Aquavit, St James’s Market, 1 Carlton Street, London SW1Y 4QQ. Keep up with their news on @aquavitlondon
